BRIEF HISTORYY OF THE CHURCH

English Martyrs Church was established in the year 1890. it was built in honour of those who died under the Penal Laws at St. Thomas Watering on the junction of Albany and Old Kent Roads, which was within the parish ,as well as the other martyrs of England. The feast day for the church was 4th May. The design of the church, which is in Early English Gothic style , was by P.W. Tasker. the foundation stone was led by Bishop Francis Bourne on 15th February, 1902. The church was formally opened on the 29th September, 1903.
